Seth Kahan and I are active members of a consulting community founded and run by Alan Weiss.
Several months ago he started a project of interviewing some of us.
Here is the recording of his interview with me.
We talk about my practice, how I started, some of the tools I have used, and some of my breakthroughs that have helped me succeed.
Scott lives in Maine and runs a successful consulting firm. He has worked with over 1,500 businesses in his 30 year career.

I got the link to this interview from your LinkedIn profile.
It's a great interview; your determination to succeed in a business you started when you were 40 years-old is inspiring.
I wonder what your thoughts are on starting a consulting practice in a recession, under tough economic conditions. I understand each individual situation is unique, but as a rule-of-thumb, should one take economic conditions into account before making the leap?

Roger, thanks for your note.
I dont think broad macro-economic conditions should be a consideration.
-What value do you provide?
-Who needs that value?
-Will they pay for it?
-Are there enough such people?
-Can you reach them?
Best of luck.
